    They are so fantastic…like hummingbirds.. I love seeing them around…even though they seem to be rare… great pics

    When did Macroglossum stellatarum get the name of hummingbird hawk moth? Hummingbirds were not known in Europe until long after Columbus arrived in America. So this moth must have had other name before that. Do you have any idea what the name was?
